CJP adds forward Cody Isbell

Team Curtis J. Phillips finalized its 2012 Spring League roster earlier today as they added Burlington, Kansas native Cody Isbell to the team. Isbell, a six foot forward is known to many as one of the most well rounded basketball players to ever come out of Burlington. CJP forward and scout Jim Hammen was the one that informed the team of Isbell abilities and had the following to say about the addition, "CJP loves their 6'1'' swingmen, so Cody is a natural addition to the team." CJP guard Ariel Ludwig who has seen Isbell play a few times at a local pickup game had the following to say upon hearing the news of the new addition, "I haven't had the chance to play with him yet but from watching him play it was easy to tell that he is quite skilled and that I look forward to playing with him." This will be Isbell's first season playing in the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Men's Basketball League. He will be wearing the number seven jersey.

Charles Morris is back!

Former CJP great Charles Morris has rejoined Curtis J. Phillips Basketball for the upcoming Spring league as the team looks to win its third consecutive Lawrence Parks and Recreation Men's Division 4 Basketball Spring League Championship. Morris retired from team CJP after the 2011 Summer League as he moved to the west coast after playing two years for the team. "First off it will be great to have one of my best friends around but in terms of basketball, it will be great to have someone that looks like Rik Smits on the team again and someone that is taller than 6'2''" said CJP general manager Daniel Sondreal. CJP guard Ari Ludwig was also excited to hear the news of Morris' comeback as he stated the following during a recent phone interview, "Charles is a really super duper dude!" Morris will once again be wearing the number six jersey.

Curtis J. Phillips withdraws from the Grand Am

Yesterday team Curtis J. Phillips withdrew the team that it had planned on entering into the 2012 North Central Grand Am Basketball Tournament in Grand Forks, ND. Due to three of the seven players on the tentative roster dropping out due to scheduling conflicts and the overall lack of quality players being available general manager and player Daniel Sondreal informed the remaining three players of the news on Thursday. "I tried and tried to come up with quality replacement players but many were already on teams and a lot the players that I used to play with or against no longer live in the Grand Forks area thus it was quite hard to field a decent team. Hopefully next year as long as the world doesn't end this year that we will be able to enter a team. And I would like to thank Levi, Brandon, and Jarrett for fulfilling their intent on playing for team Curtis J. Phillips." said Sondreal when reached early Friday morning via telephone.
