Curtis J. Phillips withdraws from the Grand Am
Yesterday team Curtis J. Phillips withdrew the team that it had planned on entering into the 2012 North Central Grand Am Basketball Tournament in Grand Forks, ND. Due to three of the seven players on the tentative roster dropping out due to scheduling conflicts and the overall lack of quality players being available general manager and player Daniel Sondreal informed the remaining three players of the news on Thursday. "I tried and tried to come up with quality replacement players but many were already on teams and a lot the players that I used to play with or against no longer live in the Grand Forks area thus it was quite hard to field a decent team. Hopefully next year as long as the world doesn't end this year that we will be able to enter a team. And I would like to thank Levi, Brandon, and Jarrett for fulfilling their intent on playing for team Curtis J. Phillips." said Sondreal when reached early Friday morning via telephone.

Quotes
"Sad to see the Lawrence family go, its been a good run, got a couple of championships along the way. We played tough against a really athletic team and just came up short in the end. Bof teams played hard, my man. Bof teams played hard." - CJP forward Jim Hammen
"We played a pretty good game, defensively we made them shoot some tough shots and turn the ball over, unfortunately we had a tough time getting shots to fall. Too bad I had to end my CJP career with a loss, but I thought we played really well against a good, athletic team. Thanks a lot, its been a really awesome run." - CJP guard Brett Goedeke
"Great game. We had it in our hands and I missed the wide open layup." - CJP guard James Lawrence
"Good intensity throughout the game. We just couldn't hit shots the first half and never quite got over the hump. Good luck to the departing members." - CJP guard Matt Donnelly
"One of our better played games this season. It's hard to beat a team with that much length and athleticism. The departing members, best of luck and thank you." - CJP guard Ariel Ludwig
"It has been a fun 13 sessions. We are not the most talented bunch but we learned to play together really well. I'd like to say thank you to the teammates and to Curtis J. Good luck in the future, hope you guys stay together. I'll check in on the website often." - CJP center Josh Lawrence

"It was a hard fought battle, but the Curtis J. Phillips squad dug deep within and pulled out the dub!" - CJP cameraman Marc Banda
"Once again we started slow and it looked as if we were going to lose to another team that we shouldn't be losing to but thanks to our defense we were able to steal this one in the final minutes." - CJP forward Daniel Sondreal
"I think my first half free throw really got us going. It had the crowd really into it. The gym was buzzing to put it mildly. It sparked our second half run for sure. Curtis J. Phillips (3-1) squanders to We're Back (3-1) 46-59
Quotes
"Anytime you're playing against the likes of Webber, Jordan, Iverson, and Penny Hardaway you have to play your best which tonight we were far from. For we turned the ball over and over and over, missed a lot of open looks, and had what it seemed like a few of our team members throw in the towel far too early. It was a big loss in terms of championship aspirations but we still have a bit of hope. Here is to keeping that hope alive." - CJP forward Daniel Sondreal
"Their run at the end of the first half killed us. Tough to beat that team when their threes are falling." - CJP forward Jim Hammen
"Tough loss, sometimes its a matter of hitting shots. Oh wait, terrible officiating too!" - CJP guard Ariel Ludwig
"Not good. Both teams played hard." - CJP center Lane Leedahl
Game Notes
CJP guard Brett Goedeke's girlfriend Sunny Dexter filled in for the injured Hannah Wilson as team CJP's camerawoman. CJP center Lane Leedahl wore red, white, and blue zubaz before and after the game.

"Kind of a dull game overall for both teams but thankfully we had Lane tonight as he was stellar against their zone defense. Heck, he even made seven out of eight free throws." - CJP forward Daniel Sondreal
"Great win. We're normally more likely to have a second half collapse against The Dawgs, but instead tonight we went on a run and pulled away." - CJP forward Jim Hammen
"Good win on a day not many shots were falling." - CJP guard James Lawrence
Game Notes
CJP is now 5-6 all-time versus The Dawgs. Camerawoman Hannah Wilson missed the game due to illness. Andrew Hammond of www.goingahamm.wordpress.com filled in for Wilson as the teams cameraman.

"Fun game tonight. I thought we did a lot of good things most of the game on defense and rebounds. I was glad I could finally get some shots to fall." - CJP forward James Lawrence
